Empowering My Growth: Owning my Learning through my ePortfolio
This class transformed my perspective on technology. I've gone from seeing it as an obstacle to embracing it as a powerful learning tool. Developing a website with navigation and multiple pages was an excellent opportunity for me to enhance my technical skills while troubleshooting challenges helped me self-correct . The journey wasn't always smooth, but the skills I gained will be a lasting benefit. The ownership I embraced in this course has boosted my learning and my Why for joining this program, and I am excited to see what the next course holds.
Designing and creating my e-portfolio was a thrilling challenge that I soon realized had its highs and lows. You can observe the difficulties I encountered halfway through that marked a turning point in my learning and ownership of my e-portfolio. I learned that I needed to be more growth minded when creating and challenge myself to do better.
Before the ADL M.Ed., my initial impression of ePortfolios was that it was a website that housed past work. However, through readings, videos, and insightful discussions in EDLD 5303, I recognized the limitations of this approach. What I saw was an organized collection, not a reflection of the active and deeper learning that defines my teaching journey.
At the beginning of this journey, I had a positive outlook with a fixed mindset toward technology, thinking that it would come easily to me. However, halfway through the course, I had to switch to a new platform, which made me realize that I needed to take smaller steps to reach my goal and that the learning process was gradual.
Reflecting on my progress, I now understand that all the work we did in this course was foundational for future courses. I will continue to add and refine my blog posts, e-portfolio, and innovation plan as I move forward. I am proud of how I started, and I am excited to see where this journey will take me.
Embracing Change: Change can be one huge roller coaster ride: when I started I was unsure and scared of what was to come. Eventually, however, it led me toward an exciting new path for learning. By embracing the unknown, we open ourselves to growth, learning, and the chance to discover who we can become. I have gained much knowledge from my learning community, which has opened my eyes to new ideas and ways to implement new technology.
Excited to keep moving forward!
